Bocce Players,
On behalf of the Alta House and the Little Italy community we hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy. Due to recent events, we have had to delay and make some change to the summer and fall bocce leagues. If you are receiving this email it is because you are a cherished member of the Alta House bocce community. With careful consideration, observation of the current state of the country, and in withing regulations set by the governor, we have made the following decisions in regard to the bocce leagues hosted at the Alta House during the summer and fall.
• We will combine the Summer and Fall League into one League
• Start June 8 and end September 21
• Includes weeks off for JAC and Feast (?), also includes 2 weeks of playoff play
• Leagues will still be played Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday
• Teams will still only play one night a game
• We will only be using the 2 outer courts to spread out players over the grounds
• The middle court will be shut down, no games or practice
• To limit the number of people gathering we are going to adjust game times
• Games will be 6pm, 7pm, and 8 pm
• Sanitation Efforts to Protect Players
• Balls will be sanitized after every game
• Balls will have an identifying mark, to make an effort to keep the same ball all game
• Hand washing stations to be provided on the grounds
• Restrooms will be available
• Common areas will be sanitized each night before league play
• Gloves and Masks can be worn at players discretion, but will not be provided or required
• At this time, to comply with the guidance from the state, we are asking that only rostered players attend.  As the direction by the Governor changes, we will alter the league attendance policy for guests and spectators.
• Only Team Captains or Vince can measure balls and mark the scoreboard.  Team Captains can cross half court, even if they have not thrown their ball
The safety and health of our bocce players is of the utmost importance to us and thus what lead us to make these changes. We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to still enjoy some of the summer while following social distancing guidelines and practicing common sense. As the guidance from the state adjust, we will also adjust the league to comply.  We are asking that you reach out to your teams and talk it over with them. Once you have heard from your teams, we ask that you let us know if you are interested in playing and we can go forth with the schedule from there.  If your team decides to pass this year, we understand and your spot will not be forfeited in future years.
Please respond by MAY 27, to this email or call Vince at 216-990-6979.
Thank you,
The Alta House Community
