In 1927, Carmine T. Cassese offically opened MVR, converting MVR from a local hot spot to a hidden gem of Youngstown, Ohio. Since then, it has been their pleasure to serve the community.
The popularity of Bocce has grown over the last 40+ years since the first bocce court was installed in 1978. Today there are 4 covered courts that are home to over 75 teams playing in leagues (Women’s, Men’s and Mixed) each spring and summer. Many tournaments are held at MVR each year, including the Annual Carmine L. Cassese Memorial Bocce Tournament. Proceeds go to the CARMSTRONG Foundation benefiting a scholarship at Youngstown State University and Pancreatic Cancer research at the James Medical Center on the campus of The Ohio State University..
